Fall Fiesta – We will be having Fall Fiesta on October 5th.  We are having 3 booths: face painting, tattoos, and a coke toss.  We are asking for students to bring in 6 packs of a type of soda.  Please send them as soon as possible.  The money that we earn during this fiesta will help pay for buses for up-coming field trips.

Math - Our school uses the Investigations and Math*U*See programs. We are still working on addition and subtraction along with multiplication.  We are working hard on story problems and using the ACE method.

Reading & Writing – In reading, we are working on finding main ideas and details in addition to finding the problem and the solution is a story. We have just finished giving your child their DRA to see what level they are for reading.  Your child should be able to tell you their level.  We are using the 6 traits writing program to help become better writers along with grammar.  We have also started learning cursive using the program Handwriting without Tears.

NDI – The National Dance Institute (NDI) comes to our school every Thursday at 10:05-11:05.  You may come watch your child practice and learn new moves for the performance in April.  They are working very hard learning their dance.

Dial-A-Teacher – A program of licensed teachers, that can help your child after school with homework.  They can help in English and Spanish.  The hours are Monday – Thursday 5:30-8:30 at 344-3571.  Please take advantage of this help.

Class Mission-  “We are on a mission to the 6th and 5th grade.  We are going to learn math, social studies, science, reading, writing and cursive.  We will do this by reading every night, doing our homework, by paying attention, asking questions, coming to school and studying everyday.”
